Parental Involvement at the Heart of the 2024 Fédération des parents Conference
The Fédération des parents took this important opportunity to reiterate the importance of parental involvement and its positive effects in all our communities, large and small, by offering a workshop called "Cultivons l’engagement parental." As its name in French suggests, this workshop dealt specifically with strategies to promote the active and ongoing involvement of parents, in order to empower them and reinforce what they’ve learned.
The workshop also gave parents the opportunity to share experiences and challenges specific to their regions, which created very enriching discussions!
The workshop is part of the skills-building project for parents’ associations, which the Fédération des parents set up last year. It’s the second stage of this project, which focuses on collaboration. It allowed participants to gain an understanding of the cycles of involvement and their challenges, and the opportunities available depending on the context within each community.
This was also the perfect opportunity for members to share their experiences and ideas, which greatly enriched their discussions and collaboration.
They left with concrete strategies to foster the commitment of parent volunteers and ensure continuity in their associations.
Other stages of the project, including workshops, working sessions, and the development of resources, will be launched during the year to provide personalized support to member parents’ associations across the province.
