The Francophone Child Care Resource and Referral service is now available!
The Fédération des parents recently set up the Francophone Child Care Resource and Referral (FCCRR) service after being chosen by the federal government to be part of its CCRR network, thanks to its expertise in the field of child care centre development, which it acquired within le Phare C.-B.
The mission of the FCCRR is to provide families in British Columbia with quality, affordable, flexible and inclusive child care; to help and support the professional development of staff in Francophone child care centres, as well as to promote the development of new Francophone child cares centres.
Parents now have access to the directory of Francophone child care centres in the province according to the criteria that meet their needs (age group, type of child care centre, region, etc.). In addition to this important resource for parents, several others are available, including informative guides on the criteria for selecting a child care centre, government subsidies, information sessions on topics of interest, and much more. To learn about these resources, please click here.
Francophone child care centres meeting certain criteria that reflect Francophone needs are invited to contact the FCCRR team to register for the directory, in order to make their centres known to parents. These criteria include, among other things, the availability of an educational program entirely (or almost entirely) in French; clearly identifying as a Francophone child care centre; offering spaces to Francophone families as a priority; and having a majority of Francophone staff.
Francophone child care centres also benefit from a support service for the management and development of their centre. They have access to an experienced and dedicated team, who know how to meet their needs and direct them, if necessary, to the appropriate resources. Child care centre professionals (educators, management teams, etc.) benefit from improved training, discussion forums, and resources, with the aim of continuing to support their professional development throughout their careers. This approach supports the efforts of the Fédération des parents to respond to the labour shortage in the field of child care services. To learn more about the services offered, please click here.
To be part of the network of Francophone child care centre professionals and to be informed when new services, resources, and events are offered, those interested are invited to register now. Click here to learn more.
In addition, the Fédération des parents has extended the opening hours of its French-language educational resource lending centre to respond even more fully to the demand of families and staff of Francophone child care centres in British Columbia.
Stay tuned to follow the development of FCCCR services.
