A 3rd Summit on the Transmission of French Language, made possible through collaboration and co-creation by Francophones!

The issue of language transmission has always been the central subject at the core of the concerns of the Canadian Francophonie. The previous summit on the transmission of French language in British Columbia brought together more than 250 participants, from all generations; it was clear that holding a 3rd summit was expected. Now, building on the success of the two earlier summits, the Fédération des parents has obtained, through the Francophone Affairs program, the necessary funding to set up the next Summit on the Transmission of French Language, which will take place on March 14, 2025, in Victoria!

This major gathering has the ultimate objective of promoting decompartmentalization and collaborative work between different sectors, the exchange of expertise and good practices, as well as the search for innovative solutions, while always keeping children and youth foremost in our thoughts. The earlier summits gave participants the opportunity to discuss various topics, such as strategies for improving the transmission of French in a minority context, the roles of community spaces for the integration of immigrants, the construction of identity among our young people, and the institutional framework serving the Francophone community, to name just a few.

Under the leadership of the Fédération des parents, the 3rd edition of the summit, organized in collaboration with 8 key players in the Francophone community – la Fédération des francophones de la C.-B., la Société de développement économique de la C.-B., the Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs of Simon Fraser University, le Conseil jeunesse francophone de la C.-B., le Conseil scolaire francophone de la C.-B., le Conseil culturel et artistique de la C.-B., Réseau-Femmes C.-B., and Carrefour 50+ Colombie-Britannique – will bring together hundreds of participants, young and old, for workshops and presentations offered by experts! Parents working in parents’ associations will not be left out; they will be invited to participate and make their voices heard during the summit. All program and registration details will be announced during the fall, so stay tuned!

While waiting for the program details for this 3rd summit, the public is invited to view the various videos of presentations offered at previous summits.
