A dynamic teaching workshop dedicated to Francophone educators!

As part of one of its objectives – the professional development of child care centre staff – the Fédération des parents invited more than thirty early childhood educators to benefit from the expertise of le Phare C.-B. in terms of early childhood teaching practices, as recommended by the Ministry of Education and Child Care. Educators participated in two dynamic workshops that allowed them to better understand:

  • how to help children tell stories to promote the acquisition of language skills, francization in children, and literacy, and
  • the development of literacy through movement.

Participants discovered, explored, and used the preschool kit called “Il était une fois...,” which aims to support the development of language skills, foster francization in children, and promote literacy, while also connecting with the fundamental areas of learning in the Cadre pédagogique pour la petite enfance de la Colombie-Britannique. Each participating child care centre received a kit free of charge, thanks to a collaboration with the CSF. Support for using the kit in the child care centres that wished to do so was also offered.

The second workshop consisted of exploring several movement games that focus on the creative ability of children aged 2 to 8 in order to provide participants with ideas for activities that are in line with the benefits of learning through play, respecting the values of the Cadre pédagogique pour la petite enfance de la Colombie-Britannique.
