The Fédération des parents has been recognized by the Ministry of Education and Child Care as the organization best suited to serve the Francophone community by offering the French equivalent of all services provided by the CCRR network in British Columbia.

A number of early childhood services already offered by the Fédération de parents through le Phare C.-B. align with the CCRRs’ mission to provide quality, affordable, flexible, and inclusive child care services to families in British Columbia. The new three-year funding from the Ministry of Education and Child Care will allow it to improve its services, to meet the growing needs of the Francophone community across the province.

Among the services offered, there are (and this is not a comprehensive list):

Services offered to parents and guardians:

  • Assistance in finding a Francophone child care centre according to needs (age of the child, region, types of child care centres, etc.)
  • Access to a comprehensive list of Francophone child care centres in the province
  • Learning opportunities on topics related to child care services
  • Help and support to facilitate access to subsidies for child care costs
  • A resource lending centre for parents and children (Tire-Lire)

Services offered to child care centre professionals:

  • Training and professional development opportunities
  • Webinars and workshops on topics of interest
  • Support with the procedure for equivalency of diplomas obtained outside British Columbia
  • The Tire-Lire resource lending centre (extended hours)
  • Information and support with job seeking in child care centres

Services offered to Francophone child care centres:

  • Support in the process of opening a certified child care centre
  • Assistance in connecting with resource people in the licensing office
  • Support with provincial funding application procedures
  • Promotional activities for careers in the field of early childhood care, in order to counter the labour shortage
  • Information on training opportunities offered by the province

The Francophone CCRR (FCCRR) officially opened on September 1, and new services will be offered as the team of le Phare C.-B. grows to meet the demand of parents, child care centres, and early childhood professionals. Positions as part of the FCCRR team at le Phare C.-B. are already open. Interested candidates can visit this link: https://lepharecb.ca/offres-demploi

This project is also an excellent opportunity to collaborate with the Francophone partners working in the child care and early childhood sector, as well as with the network of English-language CCRRs, in order to share our respective expertise and reach all those who wish to obtain services in French, regardless of where they live in the province.

The offices of the FCCRR are open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Any questions or requests for information can be sent by email to: ccrr.franco@fpfcb.bc.ca
