At its annual conference, the Fédération des parents francophones de Colombie-Britannique highlights the significant achievements of a parent association as well as those of dedicated parent volunteers.
Although the 2020 conference was held virtually, the Fédération des parents wanted to maintain the tradition of giving out an award and certificates highlighting the contributions of parents. However, due to the pandemic we had to rethink how to do this.
Parents' Association of the Year Award
For 2020, the award was presented to la Société de la garderie et de la prématernelle francophones de Victoria, a parents’ association that for three decades has distinguished itself with its strong sense of commitment to serving the community. In fact, they’re celebrating their 30th anniversary this year!
Seeing the growing needs of families in the community, this visionary child care centre (which already offered a preschool program as well as school-age and preschool child care services) turned a dream into a reality.
So, in February 2020, after a little over a year of effort, a second site was opened to welcome little ones under 36 months of age — a type of daycare for which a rigorous permit is required. Since this addition, the centre has nearly 120 registered children and 19 employees.
The centre, which is a model in British Columbia for its best practices in several respects, has restructured its management as well. A strong board of directors, which always fills positions easily, understands the importance of facilitating participation at its meetings. The board meets monthly around a meal, with child care provided, to discuss the activities of the organization.
Congratulations to la Société de la garderie et de la prématernelle francophones de Victoria!

2019-2020 Parent Volunteers of the Year
Certificates of recognition honouring recipients of the “Parent Volunteers of the Year” designation in their community are usually on display throughout the annual conference, so that all participants can see them.
As this was not possible this year, the Fédération des parents decided to recognize the dedication of all these devoted parents by publishing the certificates on its website.
Congratulations and thank you to all these “Volunteers of the Year,” and we hope that their achievements can be celebrated in a special way in their respective communities, when circumstances permit.
We invite you to check out the certificates here. Click on each certificate below to enlarge it:
